Business Declaration

Integrating biodiversity into business operations can contribute to achieving no-net-loss of biodiversity and a net-positive impact for business.

A key objective of the 10th meeting of the Convention on Biological Diversity Conference of The Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity meeting in Nagoya, Japan, October, 2010, was to set a visionary and effective Strategy to Advance the 2020 Business and Biodiversity Agenda. This strategy will focus in particular on the scaling up of successful approaches for mainstreaming biodiversity into business operations.

The Canadian Business Leadership Declaration (Declaration) is an initiative of the Canadian Business and Biodiversity Council in support of the Convention on Biological Diversity and Canada's own biodiversity objectives. It is intended to help engage Canadian businesses by obtaining commitments of companies from all sectors to integrate biodiversity considerations into their business objectives and undertake activities aimed at conserving biodiversity.

The Declaration is currently provided as a draft documents and we invite readers to provide their comments. For more information about the Declaration or to provide comments please contact the Canadian Business and Biodiversity Secretariat.
